Hermes Workbench

The Hermes desktop app in your browser. `hermes workbench` serves the desktop interface through the Hermes dashboard, for headless servers, VPSes and tablets.

Good to know before installing

Community plugin, not a Nous product. On the first `hermes workbench` run and again after each Hermes update it runs `npm install --ignore-scripts` (guided by Hermes's lockfile) and Vite against your Hermes checkout's desktop sources, writing only under ~/.hermes/hermes-workbench and its own plugin dir (the checkout is only read), and starts `hermes dashboard` on loopback when none is running.

From the plugin's catalog listing.

How to install

  1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.
    hermes plugins install hermes-workbench
  2. Said no? Turn it on later:
    hermes plugins enable hermes-workbench
  3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.

Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
