Unbrowse

Unbrowse: websites as APIs. Read any page as clean markdown, run tasks on sites through learned first-party APIs (no browser), and drive a cloud browser with saved logins when nothing matches. Also a web_extract backend and a guard that routes public-web browser_* calls to Unbrowse.

Good to know before installing

Hosted service: page URLs, task text and tool arguments are sent to unbrowse.ai with your API key, pages are fetched and site logins are stored on Unbrowse's side, and verified calls bill the Unbrowse account; once UNBROWSE_API_KEY is set the plugin blocks the built-in browser_* tools and web_extract on public URLs by default (settings blockBrowser/blockWebExtract, or UNBROWSE_ALLOW_BUILTIN_BROWSER=1).

How to install

  1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs (this one needs UNBROWSE_API_KEY), then asks whether to turn it on.
    hermes plugins install unbrowse
  2. Said no? Turn it on later:
    hermes plugins enable unbrowse
  3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.

Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
