Rfc Ref

@rfc:<number> context references: attach an IETF RFC's record from the RFC Editor to a message (title, status, date, authors, abstract, what it obsoletes and updates and what obsoletes or updates it, errata link).

Good to know before installing

Sends one HTTPS GET per reference to www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc<number>.json only (the referenced RFC number leaves the machine); no API key, no caching, no files written, no subprocess; register() only adds the @rfc: reference provider.

From the plugin's catalog listing.

How to install

  1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.
    hermes plugins install rfc-ref
  2. Said no? Turn it on later:
    hermes plugins enable rfc-ref
  3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.

Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
