Hermes Vcc
Algorithmic (no-LLM) context compaction engine: builds summaries by deterministic regex extraction instead of a summarizer-model call — zero-token, byte-reproducible, inside the built-in ContextCompressor; compacted turns stay searchable via session_search.
Good to know before installing
No network calls, no env vars, no secrets, no telemetry; registers no tools/hooks/middleware and reads only the turns the host passes for compaction; debug: true (default false) writes one metadata-only file $HERMES_HOME/vcc-debug.json. Derived from pi-vcc (MIT, sting8k)

How to install
- Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.
hermes plugins install hermes-vcc - Said no? Turn it on later:
hermes plugins enable hermes-vcc - Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.
Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
