X Chat

X Chat gateway platform: talk to Hermes in X's end-to-end encrypted DMs. Hermes runs as the X account you connect: chat with it in your own self-chat ("message yourself"), or give it a separate account and DM that. Messages are decrypted and encrypted locally with X's official Chat XDK, so X only routes ciphertext. Encrypted media, threaded replies, group mention gating and cron delivery.

How to install

  1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs (this one needs XCHAT_ACCESS_TOKEN), then asks whether to turn it on.
    hermes plugins install xchat
  2. Said no? Turn it on later:
    hermes plugins enable xchat
  3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.

Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
