Compartment
Encrypted, fully offline memory provider. AEAD-encrypted local vault (vectors included), bundled embedding model, exact hybrid search, no API key and no network at runtime. One vault shared with Claude, Cursor and any other MCP client on the machine.
Good to know before installing
Installs the full compartment engine (about 27 Python packages including onnxruntime, tokenizers, mcp and system-tray dependencies) into the Hermes venv; the provider's system prompt instructs the model to store passwords and API keys in the encrypted vault.

How to install
- Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.
hermes plugins install compartment - Said no? Turn it on later:
hermes plugins enable compartment - Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.
Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
