Chrome Tab Watchdog

Conservative Chrome tab cleanup with in-process observation and browser-call leases.

Good to know before installing

Runs a background thread inside Hermes that proxies your local Chrome DevTools port (127.0.0.1:9222 → 127.0.0.1:9223, loopback only, you must point browser.cdp_url at it), injects a focus/activity listener into every Chrome page, rewrites browser_exec session names to a per-profile namespace, and a cron script you schedule auto-closes idle, duplicate and blank tabs (including tabs with unsaved text).

How to install

  1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.
    hermes plugins install chrome-tab-watchdog
  2. Said no? Turn it on later:
    hermes plugins enable chrome-tab-watchdog
  3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.

Some plugins also need a sign-in or settings: see Full setup & settings. Memory plugins ask whether to become your memory provider instead. Steps follow the official plugins guide (opens in a new tab).
