## Good to know before installing

Sends OpenTelemetry traces and log records for every turn, LLM call and tool call (session ids, models, token counts, costs, tool names, errors) to an OTLP endpoint, `http://localhost:4318` unless `HERMES_OTEL_ENDPOINT` points elsewhere; prompt, response and tool argument/result text is included only when `HERMES_OTEL_CAPTURE_CONTENT=true`; if `genai-otel-instrument` is installed it is activated in-process and instruments the LLM client libraries Hermes uses.

## How to install

1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs, then asks whether to turn it on.

```bash
hermes plugins install traceverse_hermes_otel
```

2. Said no? Turn it on later:

```bash
hermes plugins enable traceverse_hermes_otel
```

3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.
