## Good to know before installing

Pre_tool_call auto-backgrounds long terminal/process commands (modify: background=true, notify_on_complete=true) and rewrites chained terminal commands when enabled. Disclosure — hook and tool logic runs in prebuilt native binaries (libaphrodite_hermes + aphrodite proxy, v1.6.6) built from the public PlayForm/Aphrodite source and fetched by an explicit download.sh step checked against in-tree SHA-256 sums; register() starts a background proxy on 127.0.0.1:9797/9798 whose management routes are open to local processes unless APHRODITE_MGMT_TOKEN is set; pre_tool_call by default rewrites slow terminal commands (cargo/npm/pip/docker/curl…) to run in the background (background=true, notify_on_complete=true) and splits chained commands when enabled; aphrodite_prefetch reads files the model names into its store (refuses .env, auth.json, ~/.ssh and the Hermes home); requires its own APHRODITE_API_KEY for an upstream LLM endpoint (default api.openai.com).

## How to install

1. Install it. Hermes asks for any API keys it needs (this one needs `APHRODITE_API_KEY`), then asks whether to turn it on.

hermes plugins install aphrodite
```

2. Said no? Turn it on later:

```bash
hermes plugins enable aphrodite
```

3. Restart Hermes so it loads the plugin.
